Dunning

Dunning is the sequence of actions a subscription business takes when a recurring payment fails. It usually combines automatic retries, a payment-update link, and a short email series that reminds the customer to fix their card before their access lapses.

Done well, dunning recovers a large share of payments that would otherwise become involuntary churn. Done badly, it either gives up too early or annoys customers with generic reminders.

churnguardian runs dunning automatically: decline-aware retries, a one-click card-update page, and a branded Day 0/3/7 email sequence.
